Imbas forosnai apprenticeship: I don't know what that means. I do know that many creatures clearly have intelligence. Anyone with a cat or dog in their home can observe their pet figuring something out, like how to open a cabinet, or what type of begging works best to get the food they want. So much is out now about trees, and how they work to protect one another that I am seeing the truth in their own "tree-ness" intelligence. Same with mushrooms. It's a fascinating world we live in.

I have written a few articles on ‘Imbas Forosnai’ and will probably update them when I get back to them through the seasons. To be short, ‘Imbas’ an ancient word describing the process of wordless clairvoyance, the pathway of inspirations and ‘Forosnai’ being the actual visions in our mind formed out of those inspirations, and they become the prophecies that poets attempt to convert into words, sculptures and prompts. I think the oldest scribed reference to ‘Imbas Forosnai’ is in medieval stories of Fionn mac Cumhaill within Cormac’s Glossary, an ancient work about poets.

With trees they seem to be incredibly social and supporting with their underground parts, but the above ground parts are intensly and ruthlessly competitive to claim their space of light.

There is a woodland pecking order too. Here, the birches quickly followed by alder and willow set the foundations for a new woodland. Other tree species then arrive and join in. But when the Oak, Ash and Elm establish themselves the Birch, Alder and Willow fade away, job done, and Rowans go to higher land.
