Purging Buckthorn is somewhere between being a bush and a tree. It can grow up to 30 ft, and look like a tree, which is how Common Buckthorn is often seen in lime rich soils of the Midlands of Ireland, especially in Offaly and Laois counties, and over Clare’s Burren too.
